Between the Lies is Michelle Adam’s second published work, but from the sounds of it, she has been writing for years. I love stories like hers because they show that if you fail, try, try again. I haven’t read her first book, My Sister, but I have seen some good reviews of it.
My feelings were a little mixed on this one, I will explain.

My Review:
I really hate giving bad reviews. And for me, Between the Lies wasn’t a terrible book. All of the basic elements were there. There was definitely a mystery. That is very clear in the beginning of the book. Because when Chloe wakes up with amnesia and doesn’t remember anything, the reader is just as confused as she is.
Things start coming back and she is having memories, but isn’t quite connecting with those memories on an emotional level. Now, I don’t know much about amnesia, but for the most part that made sense to me. But as she remembers more and more I found there to be a disconnect between everything she is remembering and her actions during the story. She is just so rational and logical. I don’t think I would be in the same situation.
I wanted to see more of her life before the accident that caused her amnesia. I feel like without that, I just didn’t form much of a connecting to Chloe. And there were certainly lots of twists and surprises, but even those were a bit confusing to me. I just didn’t understand what many of the characters motivations were for doing things.
So, in the end, this one just wasn’t for me. And I hate giving bad reviews because someone out there reading this review might just love the book.
